Scan Add-On Tool not only act as a Protocol Detector & Break Out Box to DLC (Diagnostic Link Connector), it has a voltage monitoring feature with Volts display which will give an alarm warning when the voltage falls below 12.0 Volts or higher than 15.2Volts. In addition to that, it can be used as a Data Saver when connected to an external 12V battery while replacing the vehicle battery and also for checking Alternator charging conditions.
Connecting this Scan Add-On Tool to the vehicle, not only allow you to switch, cross, parallel interface leads simultaneously to diagnose, analyse, test, and monitor the whole testing process on the vehicle but also gives you the comfort, ease, and accuracy in performing these tests.
With the Voltmeter display, you are able to monitor the voltages while doing programming or coding, also it will give an alarm when the voltage is below 12V or above 15.2V. This feature will minimize any errors while doing programming or coding.
It has colored LEDs that light up to display protocol detected, grounds, and voltage.
It serves as
- DLC magnifier (makes DLC 5 times larger),
- DLC extender (place DLC where you need it) and a
- SPY (you can monitor the activity on each OBDII dedicated data line).
You can even check the Alternator charging conditions by referring to the displayed voltages during electrical loading at 2000rpm and unloading at 3000rpm while plugged into the DLC socket.

Power Source
While connected to the car DLC, you can tap +12V at the red banana socket (pin 16) and Chassis Ground (-) at the black banana socket (pin 4) to powaer other DC loads. Capacity rated at 5 Amps.

Data Saver
When replacing the vehicle's battery the car ECU can turn off and the relevant data and personal settings such as radio setting, clock setting, etc. can be lost. Attaching the Scan Add-On Tool to external power source will maintain the power supply on the bus network and now it is ready to proceed with replacing the car battery.
