a.) Display Battery Internal Resistance (mOhm) and Voltage (V) results.

b.) Display battery terminal temperature (either in °C or °F) during tests

c.) Comparator- it utilises the stored test result of a new battery in its memory which is used as Specs for comparison with the battery being tested within the same Brand, Model and capacity to determine the final test results as "Good / PASS", "Warning" or "Fail".

d.) Test results on QR Code - uses QR code scanner app installed on mobile to scan QR code

e.) Key-in workshop name, car plate, VIN and customer name to appear on test results printout

Functions

1. Battery Tests: this is divided into three (3) as follows:

     a. Standard Battery test -  this test measures the Voltage, Internal Resistance, and terminals  Temperature of 12V Lead acid batteries.

    b. Singe Cell Battery test - this test measures the Voltage, and Internal Resistance of single cell battery usually rated at 1.5V for nickel-cadmium, nickel metal hydride, and standard alkaline cells (e.g. AAA, AA and C cells), 3.0 Vdc for lithium-metal cells and 3.8 Vdc for lithium-ion batteries.

As well as the 12V Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFeP04) Batteries.

2. Starter /Cranking Volt Test (6V/ 8V/ 12V / 24V)

This test checks the Starter starting volt drop and Battery condition of a 12V or 24 systems during vehicle cranking.

3. Alternator Charging Volt Test (6V/8V/12V/24V)

This test measures the maximum and minimum charging voltages output of the 6v/8v/12v and 24v whether Standard and Smart Alternators at 2,500 ~ 3,000 RPM without electrical load and at 1,500 ~ 2000 RPM with electrical loads ON. As well as Diode Ripple Test when engine is running at idling speed (700 ~ 1,000 RPM).

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What is UBA-21? What are the uniqueness of this product?

A: This UBA-21 Analyser can be used to test all sort of batteries (1.5V Dry cell, 12/24V Car and 12/16V Motorcycle batteries from Standard Lead Acid (WET, SLI, AGM, EFB, GEL Cell) to Nickel Cadmium, Lithium Ion Batteries, etc. up to 60V maximum output.

Its unique feature is that it can store the results of all new batteries after the test and use it as a norm (specs) to compare with the test on another same model battery to give the final results whether PASS or FAIL. Besides that, it has Cranking (Starter) Test and Alternator Charging Test for cars.

Q: What is the logic of making such product?

A: This UBA-21 was designed based on the following Testers: Hioki BT3554, Fluke BT521, Midtronics Celtron and TES-33S. All these testers mentioned except Midtronics Celtron cannot measure CCA.

The reason is all these testers mentioned are using AC conductance method of measuring the battery internal resistance and Midtronics had patented it to measure CCA as well so virtually the rest of manufacturers had no choice but to stick with Internal Resistance (mOhm) and Volt (SOC) display to determine the final test results when compared with new battery measurements without infringing the patent rights.

Q:   How to differentiate UBA-21 from simple multi-meter? Does it consider as an advanced tester in which could test all lithium batteries, and cells from 1v – 60V, as well as Hybrid cars?

AE: In the market, there are two types of microprocessors-controlled battery testers:

1. Battery testers that can measure and produce results with SOC (Volts), SOH (Life %) and most important CCA readings which are used to test all 6V, 12V Automotive Batteries e.g. Lead Acid, Flooded, AGM, EFB and GEL Cells where the cranking power (CCA) of the battery is vitally needed to start an engine.

Examples are AE Testers BSAL24i (icon), BSAL24g (graphic) and BSAL24l (language) all fall under this category.

2. Battery testers that can test a variety of all other batteries ranging 1.5V to 60V that are used on electrical powered devices, Hybrids and EVs with no requirement of CCA measurement. They are not a simple multi-meter. They provide precise battery SOC (Volt) and internal resistances measurement ranging from 0.1 milli Ohm to 3.0 Ohm that no normal multi-meter can do and it is very useful for checking weak cells in a multiple cells’ battery found in Hybrid cars.

Examples are UBA-21, HIOKI BT 3554, Midtronics Celltron, FLUKE BT 521 and TES 33S that are currently available in the market.
